5 Secrets Copywriters Won’t Tell you

There are secrets your copywriter hasn’t told you and may not. But I want you to know them because knowing them makes my work for you more profitable.

Copy is easy

It’s so easy to put words (copy) on the page. But the mind gets in the way and makes you think it’s soooooooo hard.

“I have to do it like this”
“It has to sound like that”
“I have NO idea where to start”

All of the little voices that run through your head is what makes copy hard.

Put it in your mind that you literally only need to say what you need to say, you’ll be golden.

Emotion is what’s hard

Inversely, it’s getting the emotion right that’s hard. Most business owners tend to write THEIR OWN emotions and their own assumptions of what their readers want and need to hear.

But, readers are telling them what they need. It’s just that no one is listening.

If they ever start listening, then the right emotion will no longer be hard.

Copy will never be “right”

You can hand 10 of my A-List copywriter colleagues and I a piece of copy and we will all do something different with it.

It’s like choosing the right tools for magick. Do you work with this spirit or that? Do you use cinnamon or bergamot? Do you light a black candle or can you use white dressed with the right oil?

It’s like standing in Michael’s and being able to choose from every item in the store to create the craft you want to create.

With copy, the equivalent is: Do you use pain or hope? Do you use a sales page template? Or do you tap into your own intuition and write? Do you choose status and exclusivity over fear? Do you employ Cialdini’s Law of Reciprocity? Or dig miles deep like Lampropolous?

The fact is, there are tons of ways to do anything. Even copy. So don’t worry about fucking it up.

The only way you can do that is to do NOTHING. (Okay, you CAN fuck it up, but it would be worse to do nothing than to do something and have it be wrong. You knew what I meant, stop being funny.) :p

YOU are the foundation of your copy

How well you deliver your goods is how well I write for you. If you know your shit, then I’m able to put it on the page.

Period.

That’s why I try really, really hard to get people to give up doing shit they hate because, in the end, it’s only destroying their progress.

Businesses struggle because the owner is busy trying to learn Wordpress (instead of embracing the ease of Squarespace like our Lightning Site peeps have) or fighting their systems instead of hiring Dani to do it for them. Or trying to learn how to write copy, instead of letting the Queen of Pain do it for them.

And if they only knew - if they only trusted that their businesses would explode as soon as they begin to master their crafts - they’d see how fast they grow. Almost effortlessly.

Copy is not stagnant

Whether it’s ads, sales copy, or even web copy, you have to know if what you’re doing is working. Ads need monitoring. Email opens need monitoring. Funnel activity needs monitoring.

If you’re not monitoring and adjusting what you’re doing across the board, growth may happen. But it’ll usually be a fuck ton slower than you want it to be.

Again, this comes back to #4. If you’re not able to do that, hire someone who can.

Now...what are you going to do, now that you know these 5 secrets that your copywriter didn’t tell you? How are you going to use them to grow??
